Major Refurbishment & Alteration for Cancer Centre

Westmead Hospital  Cancer wards were refurbished based on the US style comprehensive cancer centre model which combines cutting-edge services with a patient-friendly approach.

Careful consideration was given to the need for maintaining a working hospital which undertakes complex service delivery 24 hours a day. The replacement of the ageing engineering infrastructure required careful structured co-ordination of new services without disrupting service supplies.

Electrical, Communication & Equipment Services

David Power Commercial Services Division provided electrical, communication and equipment services for this project, including:

    • new general lighting and power for main room, new waiting area, changing and control rooms
    • new exit & emergency lighting
    • extensions to existing nurse call system
    • new CBUS control system integrated to the new oncology equipment
    • cable support and duct system
    • new equipment power system
    • new main and distribution boards
    • integrated voice/data cabling system
    • two way voice communication system
    • works on the site, to and within other buildings
    • temporary connections and out-of-hours work as necessary to ensure services are maintained
    • making safe, disconnection and removal of existing electrical, security and communication services in buildings to be demolished/removed/relocated
